About Me - Shelley Lang

Shelley Lang has spent her fair share of time in the student chair. She started her post-secondary educational path at Mohawk College earning her diploma in Recreation Leadership ('93) while where she playing both varsity soccer and basketball. The she went on to get her Bachelor of Arts from York University ('95) where she continued to play varsity basketball. In 1997, Shelley was an integral part of the York Women’s basketball team that surged up the standings and finished 2nd in the country! Shelley then went back to college in (’98) to Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay where she complete her post graduate certificate in Geographic Information systems. After 6 years of post seconday education she applied to Mohawk College Athletics and won the position. Years later, Shelley then completed her Master’s degree in Education with a minor in Community College from Central Michigan University ('09). Lastly, in 2018 she went back to school again to complete her Holistic Nutritionist certificate from the School of Natural Nutrition (Reg #: 1003118).

Shelley also has a Personal Training Certificate from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. Furthermore, she is a Certified Personal Trainer, Sport Nutrition Specialist, and a Master Trainer, as well as an Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police PREP certified trainer (OACP-PREP), a Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services FITCO Appraiser and an RCMP PARE Assessor.

Shelley is Canfitpro Nutrition and Wellness certified and is also a Nutritional Consultant. She has worked at Mohawk College for over 23 years in various roles, including support staff (e.g. she looked after the Brantford Campus Athletic facility), technologist, and now she is a full time faculty member with the Justice department. Shelley also coached for the Women’s basketball team at Mohawk College from 2002-2007. For the last 20 years, she has been a faculty member teaching courses like Justice Fitness, Nutrition, and Theories of Weight Management. She has also nurtured and developed important relationships with community partners like the Halton Police Service, and Hamilton Police Services.

Shelley’s interests and hobbies include kayaking/canoeing, camping, hockey, and biking. She is well known to sport Oakley sunglasses on her head at all times, rain or shine!
